Here at Sojourn
On Sunday mornings I hang out with the kids of Sojourn. I hang out with them and I see them, really see them. Then I create space for them to be exactly who they are and I protect that space with my life. I am Mama wolf of our pack. I see to it that the pack runs wild and free because all I believe it takes for a child to grow in the ways of God is for a child to be exactly, uniquely, brilliantly who they are. Whenever I think about what it is that I want to teach our kids or what values and traits I want to instill in them, I quickly realize that it’s really better to ask, “how do I protect them from being robbed of the genius values and traits they already possess?” Oh and I like to remind the “grown ups” in our pack that they still have the person they were created to be inside of them as well. I like to shine a light on the truest versions of ourselves, the people we were created by God to be and to help people carve away all the fears, inhibitions and pain that might keep them from living as that true self.
I collect houseplants and I love to garden. I like to get out and hike as many new places as I can and to explore the outdoors with my husband and children. I collect seashells and rocks. I love oils and herbs and any way at all that I can connect to planet Earth. My cat heals my soul, I love cuddling with that tiny tiger. My girlfriends and happy hour are a favorite and tasting/making new cocktails with my husband.
Why I Love Our Church
We need each other, we belong to each other. We shrivel up and die without each other. This church creates a space to be together, to be there for each other and in doing so to be more exquisitely alive than we had ever previously imagined possible.
